Adlerian Play Therapy is a Play Therapy Seminal Theory that allows the Play Therapist flexibility in approach (directive or non-directive), in addition to providing skills with creativity. This approach works well with many presenting concerns, and emphasizes collaborative work with parents/guardians, as well as the teachers and school counselors in the child’s life.
This is a 4 CE APT non-contact webinar. To be eligible for credit, you must complete the training, evaluation and post-test. The post-test must be passed with at least an 80% score, and it may be attempted up to two times. This training is not eligible for NBCC ACEP credit or ASWB ACE credit.
Description
Discover exploring your client’s lifestyle, and why this is important in Adlerian Play Therapy, specifically in conceptualization and treatment planning. Uncover the elements of the lifestyle: family atmosphere, family constellation, Crucial Cs, personality priorities, goals of misbehavior, purposes of behavior, assets and strengths, lifestyle convictions, mistaken beliefs and private logic. In this introduction training, an overview of the four phases and Adlerian Play Therapy skills and techniques will be provided. Special attention to working with parents is also discussed.
Objectives
- Describe the four phases of Adlerian Play Therapy
- Describe the difference between a direct and indirect approach in Adlerian Play Therapy, and when to use each.
- Describe two Adlerian Play Therapy techniques used in helping the child to gain insight in Play Therapy.
- Describe the importance in exploring the family atmosphere, family constellation, goals of misbehavior and the Crucial C’s with every child in Adlerian Play Therapy.
- Describe how the phases determine the directiveness of the therapist in Adlerian Play therapy.
Adlerian Play Therapy: An Introduction Trainer
Teresa is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Board Approved Clinical Supervisor in Kansas and Missouri and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor™. She specializes in working with children and teens, from an attachment informed, family systems lens. She has extensive experience providing trauma competent clinical services, along with her Therapy Dog in Training, Rafi Rose. She completed her Play Therapy Training at Mid-America Nazarene University, and has completed numerous specialized trainings in working with children and adolescents, complex trauma, developmental trauma, autism spectrum disorders and anxiety. She utilizes Play Therapy, Family Systems, Adlerian and EMDR in her clinical work. She is a certified EMDR therapist and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.
No partial credit will be given for any training, workshop or course. You must attend the event in its entirety to receive continued education credits. For live webinars, you must have your camera on at all times to receive credit for attendance.
All trainings require at least a Master’s Degree in a Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work or related field, and completion of EMDR Basic Training (for EMDRIA Approved Advanced Workshops). Graduate Students may enroll in the training, and understand that continued education credit cannot be provided to individuals who do not hold proper credentials.
