Julez Holguin, Counseling Intern
There are many hardships that some children experience that causes behavior challenges, communication difficulties and social-emotional distress. You may have noticed changes that you cannot explain or do not fully understand and may need additional support in making changes. Julez focuses on helping children learn new ways to handle distress, and helps parents learn ways to support their children between sessions. Julez is passionate about providing a warm and accepting environment so that the children she works with can focus solely on being a kid. For teens and adults, the environment she cultivates provides an opportunity honest reflection and the ability to individualize your experience according to what your goals are. Julez collaborates with her clients to help them find the strength, empowerment, and tools to achieve their goals and experience and identify the impact of their own growth.
Therapeutic Approach
As an aspiring Play Therapist, Julez utilizes the power of play as a tool to help children learn, grow, process experiences and emotions, and learn how to communicate. She approaches therapy from a trauma informed attachment lens from a person-centered approach, while providing an individualized intervention to target the distress that your child and family is experiencing. She works collaboratively with each child or teen’s parents to develop treatment goals, aligning with family values and systemic needs.
