Susan is a warm and accepting compassionate therapist who values providing practical support for wellness and new perspectives and skills to support healing and hope, whether individually with children and teens, or with other members of the family, or with the parent system. She believes that everyone has the strengths and resiliency to overcome their struggles and barriers to living a balanced and peaceful life. She provides a safe place for all of her clients to vent, process trauma and events, ask questions, and explore themselves, their relationships, and their world. She values individualizing for each client, building a strong therapeutic rapport where they can find the hope and healing they desire from a holistic approach.
She strives to cultivate a safe and accepting environment for you, or your child or teen, to receive the support your need to work through anxiety, depression, processing trauma. With Susan’s guidance and support, you will discover new ways of coping with past or present circumstances and ways to improve how you manage life situations, relationships, and identity. You can find empowering and encouraging ways to uncover your inner resources to grow and change, where your truth helps you overcome attachment wounds, and live life more authentically.
Susan can provide therapy in Spanish and can integrate faith into her therapeutic approach.
Susan approaches therapy from a strengths based, person-centered approach, from a trauma competent, family systems lens. She integrates evidenced based practice, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), among others. Throughout your journey, she will also implement strategies and practical support to develop insight and skills to support healing and hope.
Education and Training
Susan received a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible and Family Ministry from Manhattan Christian College, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. She has extensive training in trauma approaches and child centered therapy.
