Teresa Paterson, LPC, LCPC, RPT, CCPT
Teresa is a parent of three adolescent/young adult children, and is familiar with the challenges that come with raising kids, including bullying, self-harm behaviors, social media issues, academic and interpersonal challenges. Teresa is passionate about providing parents with the tools and resources necessary to provide the optimal family environment for their unique child and family dynamics.
As a client-centered attachment-focused clinician, she is committed to empowering children and families to embrace their fullest potential, embracing mind, body and spirit. In her practice, Teresa utilizes evidence based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Techniques, and Play Therapy, from a holistic attachment-based perspective.
She received her Bachelor's Degree in Child Development from Fort Hays State University, and a Master's Degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where her training and research focused on current and relevant issues that children, adolescents and families experience in today's world. With over 20 years of experience working with children and their families, she has developed expertise helping individuals overcome the adversities they have faced to find hope and joy once again, including peace and harmony in parent-child interactions, as well as family dynamics. Teresa has completed post-graduate certification in Play Therapy from Mid-America Nazarene University, trauma informed practice through the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (TF-CBT and Mindfulness) and Autism Specialist Certification from the University of Kansas to further specialize her areas of expertise.
