Family Therapy

Many children, teens, and adults come to Susan seeking support in their friendships and relationships. Some say they deeply long to find friendships but feel scared and uncomfortable in social situations or big groups. Some express that they struggle in their family relationships, often feeling like they have no voice or are not allowed to feel important or be themselves. All clients have a common theme of wanting to be seen and heard as the unique and amazing individuals they are. Susan is here to see you, hear you, and support you in growing and improving your life.

Susan is a Licensed Professional Counselor at our Johnson County office. She provides individual and family therapy to children, teens, adults, and families. She works with individuals and families struggling with a variety of concerns, including family/relationship issues, trauma/PTSD, anxiety, and self-esteem issues.

Therapeutic Approach

Susan’s therapeutic approach includes bringing empathy and deep care to her clients. She believes we all need a safe place to talk openly and explore who we really want to be. With this, she strives to create that space for her clients. Her approach uses a person-centered therapy lens and includes play therapy interventions and techniques to help clients work toward their goals. Her approach focuses on the importance of family systems and encourages healthy connections among all family members. She may encourage family or important others to participate in therapy sessions in her work with individuals. For child/teen clients, she will hold regular parent or sibling sessions, if needed, to bring more support toward change. In her work with families, she will help family members improve their ability to connect, understand, and communicate with each other so everyone feels heard.
