Fear gets in the way. Fear of how to get to your healing, or how to help your child overcome challenges and stressors. Life is hard and you just need someone you can turn to during your time of stress. You need someone to guide you, believe in you, find grace and forgiveness and alleviate the overwhelming feelings that are holding you back. As a parent, you’re concerned about your child’s behaviors, social skills or academic success and have hope for their confidence and success. Carolyn meets you right where you are and partners with you offering perspective, coping tools and guidance to overcoming the results of your trauma and life’s difficulties, self-doubt and negative self-talk and thinking.
Carolyn brings warmth and purposeful counselor, who is dedicated to supporting her clients to find the peace and healing within. When working with children and teens, she provides a safe, warm and playful environment for children to be able to work through their challenges in their natural way. She provides tools for learning to cope and calm, as well as learn new behaviors to help children and teens success in all of their relationships and environments.
Therapeutic Approach
Carolyn establishes a strong rapport with her clients, whether children, families or adults, from a trauma competent, person-centered approach where she values developing a strong understanding of your life stressors.
She has an integrated, holistic approach to her therapy practice, where developing an understanding of how you are impacted by all environments, in the context of your life stressors. While continuously supporting her clients with solid treatment goals, she provides an empathic environment to conquer worries and fears. Carolyn provides counseling to individuals and families, focusing on attachment and Play Therapy.
Education, Professional Memberships and Trainings
Carolyn a Master’s Degree in Counseling from LeTourneau University. Her current trainings include Play Therapy, Theraplay® and EMDR. As a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), she uses this intervention to help caregivers know how to help the children in their care heal from trauma.
