You are not here by accident. Your family is looking for the answer for your child to feel better. Trying to figure out how to help your child can be challenging when you are experiencing higher stress levels because of their distress. You may be hearing or reading many different things to try, and most of them have not worked. We are so glad you are here. Charlie is a counselor passionate about working with children and teens with behavioral and emotional struggles. You could even call Charlie a self-compassion teacher. They help people learn how to feel connected to themselves and others, including children and teens and their families. Charlie is energetic and eager to work with all of their clients and their families!

Charlie uses play therapy techniques to help children and teens work through big feelings and challenging situations while promoting healing and resiliency. Charlie begins the therapeutic process by providing a safe and welcoming space to explore feelings, learn coping strategies, discover their voice, and enjoy their life! They guide clients to learn about themselves and build connections with themselves first, then with others.

An important part of Charlie’s approach is collaboration with the family and other systems that influence the client. They partner with the parents/guardians to help each client grow outside of sessions and strengthen the parent-child relationship. Currently, Charlie utilizes a person-centered approach, with directive and non-directive interventions in their sessions, while continuing training to use Adlerian Play Therapy in their work. 

Charlie completed their Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Mental Health from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. They are also currently pursuing Play Therapy Training toward certification. They are clinically supervised by Ashley Cross, MA, LPC.
