You may feel lost and alone, looking for understanding and guidance. Even though it may feel hard right now, Julia wants you to know you are not alone. She will patiently and compassionately hold space to hear your story, understand your experience, and support you as you move toward healing and change. Julia is a dedicated counseling intern ready to join you as you embark on your personal growth journey.

As a counseling intern, Julia offers affordable individual counseling to those needing support or experiencing anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns. Through her work, she supports clients in understanding their emotions and experiences and finding their potential. With this support, people can see themselves in a more positive light and know they can do anything they set their minds to.

Therapeutic Approach

Julia believes that you deserve a safe, nonjudgmental environment to express yourself freely without fear. She works hard to build a trusting and honest therapeutic relationship with clients. Furthermore, Julia understands the impact of a client’s external world and relationships on their life. Because of this, she will often work with a client’s family and support systems to aid in healing and change. Julia carefully adapts her approach based on the client’s needs and uses evidence-based strategies from cognitive behavioral, person-centered, and emotionally focused therapy.

Education & Training

Julia received her undergraduate degree from Emporia State University and is currently in their Master’s in Clinical Counseling program. Additionally, she completed her practicum in the behavioral health unit at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission and has worked there as a behavioral health associate. Julia’s clinical supervisor is Teresa Paterson Bartch, LPC, LCPC, RPT-S.
