Counseling for Children
Is your child struggling to cope with BIG feelings and behaviors? They may be facing challenges at school, academically, or engaging with teachers and peers. They may also be struggling at home, experiencing emotional outbursts or meltdowns, or having difficulty getting along with siblings and other family members. Your child may be expressing overwhelming sadness, worry, and stress, and you may be at a loss for how to support them. Seeing your child struggle in this way is hard for any parent to handle. Kevin understands that all behaviors are communication and wants to help you make sense of what your child needs.Â
Kevin is a child counselor, but you might also call him a feelings and behavior coach. He helps kids who want to feel more successful but aren’t sure why they feel the way they do or know how to make changes to feel better. He supports them in understanding their feelings and behaviors, empowering them to make positive changes. After working with Kevin, his clients feel more confident and successful at home, school, and within their community. He specializes in helping children experiencing various concerns, including anxiety, depression, and behavior disorders.
Therapeutic Approach
Kevin’s therapeutic approach is client-centered, integrating CBT, DBT, and Solution-Focused approaches. His approach focuses on helping kids understand more about themselves and the feelings they are experiencing and teaching them how to address their feelings appropriately. He believes that you and your child deserve an explanation of what they are experiencing to make sense of it and then be able to make positive changes in their lives. Additionally, his work emphasizes educating parents about feelings and behaviors, diagnoses, and interventions and connecting parents to tools and resources they need to help their child be more successful. He partners with parents, engaging in parent/child sessions to help assess concerns, determine appropriate interventions, and teach coping strategies.
Education & Training
