Carrying life’s burdens alone can feel impossible and scary. You or your child may be needing additional support from someone who offers a safe and warm space to no longer navigate these burdens alone. Nita is a compassionate and empathetic therapist who is passionate about walking with clients during times of uncertainty and doubt while highlighting individual strengths to empower clients to make the change they desire. Nita has experience working with children, teens, families, and adults dealing with a variety of concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, low self esteem, and stress.

Therapeutic Approach

Nita’s child-centered therapeutic approach uses non-directive and directive play therapy interventions and techniques to help clients work through their challenges. She draws from child-centered play therapy, family systems therapy, person-centered therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She understands that developing a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship while working with the family to create systemic change has an even greater potential for growth and improvement for future generations.

Nita has also completed training in Child Centered Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Through her education and training, Nita has developed a unique eclectic approach that allows her to tailor treatment towards the client’s stage of development, readiness for change, and the client’s unique strengths.

Education & Training

Nita received her Master’s of Science in Clinical Counseling from Central Methodist University- Fayette. She is pursuing her Play Therapy Certification and EMDR Certification. Nita is clinically supervised by Carolyn Grace, LPC.
