Clinical Supervision (LMSW)
Finding a social worker for children who genuinely connects and understands children is challenging. Finding a professional that supports the family and gives them the skills and tools for effective communication, connection and finding playful ways to enjoy each other is even more challenging. Sally is a Play Therapist who supports children in discovering their strengths, helping them to believe in themselves, while also helping parents/guardians and their families learn more about each other, feel more supported and explore a deeper level of connection together. She facilitates a journey of healing, believing that the brain naturally tends towards growth and healing, where she is an empathic guide for each child through their Play Therapy process.
Sally listens to each of her clients, and supports them as they explore their thoughts and feelings, and helps them to sort out what they are going through, process anxieties and fears, and learn the right skill for each client to help them not only feel better, but function better. From a family systems lens, Sally provides consistent feedback to parents/guardians to keep them connected throughout the therapeutic process and to help them discover new tools to help their family enjoy each other.
Therapeutic Approach
Sally’s primary focus in her theoretical approach stays true to attachment and connection. She is a social worker for children and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™, where she primarily practices from a Child Centered and Adlerian perspective. She continuously stays connected with education and implementing best practice, including assessments and effective treatment planning.
She also is finishing certification in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), where she has completed specialized training in utilizing this therapy with children. She is skilled in working with foster care and adoption, traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression and difficulties in the family relationship. She is passionate about being a “safe boss” in the Play Therapy room, modeling respect, kindness and authenticity for each of her clients.
